Free Witchcamp Features
Free WitchcampWitches, Earth First!ers, Radical Faeries, Rainbow Family, Seeds of Peace gather in Oregon wilderness150 people gathered in the wilderness of Central Oregon for the first Free Witchcamp - an experiment in creating community while organizing the most basic necessities of life, including water, food, and shelter. Free Witchcamp was held in a federal wilderness area in Central Oregon, a stunning setting for a week of work with "the Wild." People from Earth First!, Radical Faeries, Rainbow Family, Seeds of Peace, Reclaiming, and others joined in creating rituals, paths (morning intensives), workshops, and spontaneous outbursts of magic. Taking advantage of the site, evening rituals roamed far and wide, circling the lake or visiting a bluff looking out over miles of forest. Morning paths were held in beautiful, inspiring settings. Free Witchcamp included all ages, and about 20 of the campers were under 18. Location, location, location...
The Healing Path met each morning at this bluff overlooking the forests of central Oregon.
Set amid the trees and fields was a small wooden shelter, the only structure on the site. The camp kitchen was set up outside the shelter, and the plateau around the kitchen became the camp's "hearth."
The hearth became the crossroads for the camp.
Campers ranged ranged from infants to folks in their 60s. For more than half, it was their first Witchcamp.
Tents were pitched in clearings radiating off the hearth area.
